Long Answer: I've been an audiophile for over 30 years and this is the single best piece of electronic gear I've ever purchased. From aesthetic to its musicality to its solid no BS noise, hum, poping... Its nearly as silent as mu Purifi D-Class amp (not kidding). I've been rolling tubes and playing it for a week now and it just continues to open up as the electronics break in.
Build quality: Hard to find any fit and finish flaws. Most tube amps to me look like bad Frankenstein experiments, not in good way. This R8 is classy, modern and retro, poses with quality, everything is "tight." I have the silver and black, OMG what a beauty, in person, the black parts on the amp are painted w light fleck in the finish that make the amp pop. Personally, I like the loom best w the cage on.
SOUND:This is my first tube amplifier and I'm running the pre-amp in put. Works flawlessly, clean noise-free sound. The difference between rural linear and triode is night and day. Fun to switch in real time, even adjust per track. Alison Krauss in ultralinear and Nora Jones in triode--sounds lovely. Hugh dynamics. extended highs, controlled lows, clan noise/grain free voices.
Service:
As good as it gets. The unit was delivered without a hitch, I did not have to pay any import taxes and was messaged every step of the way. With service this good and shipping this fast and prices this low for this level of quality, I will and have been making more purchases.
This Willsenton R8 amplifier has entirely satisfied my tube tube amplifier interest.
